SMARTWORK MEDIA PUBLICATIONS WIN TWO TABBIE AWARDS
INSTORE and INDESIGN magazines took home two Tabbie Awards for editorial coverage and design, the contest's sponsor announced July 14.
(July 15, 2009)
INSTORE won a Gold Award in the How-To category for its November 2008 lead story, "Is Your Store Sales Fit?" by Managing Editor Eileen McClelland and contributor Josh Wimmer. The story offered retailers tips and checklists to ensure their stores were ready for the all-important holiday selling season.
"This article is extremely well written and easy to read - full of great advice that seems easy to implement," the judges commented. "Well done."
INDESIGN took home a Bronze Award in the Feature Design category for its October 2008 "Brand 50" lead story designed by Group Creative Director Adonis Durado. The story featured the 50 most visible jewelry and watch brands in America.
"The bold opening spread coupled with well-organized inside pages really makes for a solid presentation," one judge commented.
The 2009 Tabbie Awards featured just shy of 500 entries, with nominations coming from the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, France, China, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Germany and India.
"While the most important judge and critic of our work will always be our readers - the independent jewelry retailers of America - it's gratifying to receive such recognition within the publishing industry," said INSTORE and INDESIGN'S Group Editorial Director David Squires. "It's a testament to our great team and the hard work they put in helping retailers build their businesses."
Presented by Trade, Association and Business Publications International (TABPI), this sixth-year editorial and design competition was open to English-language b2b publications worldwide, published at least quarterly. Complete results, along with selected comments from the judges and samples of the winning entries, are available at www.tabpi.org.
