BEST JEWELRY ADS RECOGNIZED FOR FIRST TIME EVER
INDESIGN's "Jewelry & Watch Advertising Awards" Name Best Ads Among Retailers, Designers

(March 28. 2008)

For the first time ever, the best advertisements in the jewelry & watch industries have been honored by The Jewelry & Watch Advertising Awards, a competition run by INDESIGN Magazine, a monthly business-to-business publication distributed to approximately 5,000 of the country's top retail jewelers. More than 300 ads were submitted to the competition by 140 different companies (no company was allowed to submit more than three ads for consideration). The winners appear in the pages of INDESIGN's April issue, which begins arriving in readers' mailboxes today.

The winners included some of the world's most renowned designers, as well as several of the country's top independent jewelry retailers. One independent retailer, Tivol of Kansas City, MO, won an extraordinary three awards in three different categories (magazine, newspaper, and outdoor). No company was permitted to enter more than three ads in the competition. Notable first-place winners among jewelry & watch design companies included Baccarat, Le Vian Time, Jeff Cooper, and Steven Kretchmer. World Gold Council took first place in the industry associations category.

"Given the current nature of the economy, I was impressed to see that the most successful luxury businesses in our nation, both retailers and designers, continue to pour a lot of thought, innovation and effort into their advertising," said Trace Shelton, editor-in-chief of INDESIGN. "While some of the winners were big brands, some were single-location retailers or up-and-coming designers. All of these ads show how a single burst of creativity can have a huge impact on a business."

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards were given to winners in five categories for retailers (Magazine, Radio, TV, Outdoor, and Newspaper Advertising), two for jewelry & watch designers/manufacturers (Product-Only Magazine Ads and Model/Celebrity Magazine Ads), and one for industry associations (Magazine Ads).
